When a puppy arrives in a new home, it gets a family, and the family gets a baby family member. A very special bond develops between the parent and the dog as the days pass. The dog showers unconditional love to the family members, and the parents raise the family member as their child.
The puppy should be socialized and trained to make its conduct acceptable to the extended family and friends and to the larger society. It is generally trained to sit, stand, and lay on command of family members.
Now, asking why someone should spend valuable time and effort training their puppies ,is it worthwhile. I have been the mother of 6 dogs and have been involved in their training. As I have thought about it, I have a very different perspective. As we train our puppies, it is not training for them. It is a fun activity.
My personal experience with my dog training has been full of joy and excitement. The dogs wait eagerly for quality time with me; I also look forward to the stress-relieving sessions. The bond of love that exists between got strengthened due to the training.
Therefore I strongly believe if you are taking a puppy home, set aside some time to train the puppy yourself. You will know how to communicate with your puppy effectively while building a deep relationship created by all the fun time you spend together.
During this whole episode, the pet parent and the dog spend quality time together, learning new tricks and activities. The job involves not only physical movement but also challenges their cognitive abilities. The training process is both physically and mentally stimulating. Throughout the process, they get lots of praise, love, and delicious bites. Thus, the dog looks forward to the training session to spend quality time with you.
As a trainer and dog parent, I find training sessions lots of fun. They act as panacea for daily stresses and worries. They also provide physical exercise, which is much needed to balance my sedentary working hours and prevent lifestyle diseases.
Amongst all this enjoyment and fun, a strong, emotional bond develops between the dog and the pet parent, which is otherwise very difficult to build.
